A SCHEME where condoms are provided from the back of taxis in Nottingham is being relaunched this week.

The Condoms In Cabs scheme, run by NHS Nottingham City, from the back of A2B cars, is for customers aged 18 and over.

It is aimed at cutting the stigma associated with condoms, as well as the rate of unwanted pregnancies and sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and will be relaunched during National Condom Week which starts today.

Deborah Hooton of NHS Nottingham City said the awareness week coincided with the one year anniversary of Condoms in Cabs. She said: "Both these events serve to reinforce the fact that when used correctly condoms can be 98% effective and are the only method of contraception which also protects against STIs."

The NHS also has the C-Card scheme, where people aged 13 to 24 can get condoms. Visit www.ccardnottingham.co.uk.
