Community benefits from funding vote
MORE than 150 people turned out for a community funding event in Mansfield.
The district council's first 'Participatory Budgeting' event enabled residents to vote for projects they wanted to receive public money.
For the West Mansfield area, Crescent Primary School came top of the vote and was given £423 to set up an allotment.
The school, in Booth Crescent, was also given £1,700 to set up a "nurture group" to address behaviour and social skills in a small number of children.
Bull Farm Football club were given £500 to enable them to register in the FA league.
North Notts Society for the Deaf and All Saints Roman Catholic School also received grants.
For the South Mansfield area, Cantamus Girls' Choir were given a grant to help them set up music workshops at the Samworth Church Academy.
Other groups to benefit were King Edward Primary School, sexual abuse charity SHE, NOMADS Cricket Club and the Brunts family of schools.
Similar events for funding in North Mansfield and Warsop will be held later in the year.
