Breakthrough: Rogue Element
Firefly has always prided itself on pushing the boundaries and the concept of a techno, breaks and house night – and with a line-up with such subtle variances, the crew are continuing to develop their night.
Brodinski, of Boyznoize Records, Kitsune and Metal Groove, is one of the most talked about up and coming DJs and producers from the French scene in recent years.
Hailing from Reims, Lille, he carries baggage and expectation, due to the Parisian syndrome, after so many esteemed acts before him.
His musical taste is broad, reflected in his own blistering productions and DJ sets, earning him his kudos for his handle on minimal house and techno.
Brodinski has remixed Bonde de Role, Klaxons, Das Pop, Shoes, D.I.M, Heart Revolutions and Adam Sky, with each remix taking a different approach, from the acidic, to vocal techno, as well as melancholic end-of-nighters.
The Frenchman is already championed by Radio Soulwax, Tiga's Turbo, Bugged Out and Firefly.
Rogue Element, aka award-winning producer and composer Ben Medcalf, is also taking the reins next week.
The Rogue Element, known for his work on lot49, Passenger and Exceptional labels, has taken the breakbeat scene by the scruff of the neck.
Ben was awarded "best breakthrough producer" award at the prestigious Breakspoll International Breakbeat Awards 2006.
In 2007, he won "best producer" at the same ceremony.
Finally, Tractile, who have recorded for Richie Hawtin's Minus camp, completes the triple header.
As Minus is home to some of the most esteemed electronic artists hailing from the Americas and Europe, the Firefly faithful can expect something pretty special.
Tractile, aka Adam Young and Joel Boychuk, played their first public live show in 2003 and have continued to shake dance-floors ever since.
Influenced by a strange combination of filmmakers like Stanley Kubrick and George Lucas, as well as the evolution of techno music and the emergence of the minimal sound through artists like Richie Hawtin and Jeff Milligan, Tractile deliver barrages of tech grooves which adopt a soundscape like style.
It fits dance floors and at-home sessions alike and so how these three artists will adapt to each other remains to be seen and heard.
Either way, it is set to be one of the best nights of the year so far.
