NIGEL Clough ducked the media spotlight following Derby's dramatic comeback at the City Ground, with assistant manager Gary Crosby insisting: "He does not want to take any glory from this win."

The Rams boss returned to his former stomping ground with his new side and steered them to a remarkable win.

But he chose to send Crosby in to the post-match press conference and he explained: "You know the nature of the man. He does not want glory.

"He is incredibly pleased with the result, that is all he is interested in.

"He does not want to be seen to be taking any glory from this win here. But it is a fantastic win in a cup tie, having been 2-0 down early on.

"He just asked me to do the press and I said 'yes, sure gaffer'. I have been asked to speak to you about the game and that is what I will do."

Crosby admitted Derby had left themselves with a tough task after goals from Chris Cohen and Nathan Tyson put Forest 2-0 up.

"It was not the start we wanted, Forest came out the blocks very well. You look at the two goals and the first one was a deflection and the second a penalty," he said.

"It was not the best start. But we showed some good character. The next goal was important and we made sure we got it.

"From that point on I thought we were the better side. Forest had one or two situations but I thought we had the better chances overall."

In the end it was former Forest man Kris Commons who fired his new side to victory.

And Crosby admitted: "It was always going to happen really, wasn't it? It wasn't the first time and it won't be the last time that something like that has happened.

"He kept going, he kept doing the right things and we said to him that, if he did that, he would get his reward.

"Over the two games I think we were the better side and deserved to go through."

Derby will now face Manchester United in the fifth round, having already faced them in the Carling Cup semi-final this season.

"You can never get bored of playing Manchester United – or at least the chairman never would," said Crosby.

"I think the ideal outcome is a victory for us, after a replay now, isn't it?

"It is the perfect scenario for us. With it being a single leg we will look at it differently. It will be difficult, but we will give it a go."

“Tina - I think your Man needs another beer, be a good Girl and fetch him one. I dont think he would like it if he knew you were spending valuable cleaning time on here. Does he have a bell? Is his Dinner cooked? Should you not be sitting by his feet waiting for his next command?

Leave the football talk to the Men.
I am sure the Tricky fans will be very polite to KFC when he returns in a couple of weeks ;)”

“The old couple in the hospitality in F block went out of their way to rile forest fans.I know cos i was in F block.I wouldnt say pensioners they were like in their late 50's at best. The woman just wouldnt shut up so for her safety had to be removed. Some fans did act like idiots towards her but in an atmosphere & game like forest v derby u are always going to get that.If she wanted to rant and rave for her team then she should of sat where she was able to do that.”

“P.S The reason I'm not sounding too gutted is because if you have 11 players out of action before you even go into a tie, you dont expect miracles. I really hope derby will think they have the measure of us now, because what they faced last night was'nt our strongest team by a long shot, and could lead to them underestimating us in the league game.”

“The funny thing is, most of those in a block are under a certain age and never even witnessed a brian clough side. Or if they did, they certainly werent old enough to understand or remember with any clarity. If they were old enough they wouldnt have sung what they sung its that simple. It IS disgraceful, but what do you expect from kids? Every clubs got them. Not the best of nights last night, but there will be a few twists and turns before this season is done - regardless of individual results, no-one's won nowt yet and both clubs are in a relegation fight. There is still more to come from this story and I honestly believe we'll get the last laugh - it's experience manager with a youth team verses youth manager with an experienced team both trying to survive. Haha - its going to be interesting to say the least.”

“What a great result really proud of the rams! especially kris he deserved it,the really nasty comments forest fans have made have been disgusting, also really glad we havent got BD anymore arrogant and full of it should of been a salesmen, though seems to be losing the gift of the gab as he diden't manage to get a single player in the transfer window! well done nigel showing class and respecting forest and the fans,it just saddens me forest fans dident show the same to commons, now maybe you will leave the guy alone and let him play his football and concetrate on your own players!”

“Kris Commons had a purple patch in the middle of the 2nd half that I believe was inspired by the Forest fans who threw coins and things at him as he was preparing to take a corner.
this abuse likely stirred his testosterone level, and the result was a winning goal .........well done forest fans, we couldn't motivate him as much as you did !! akin to scoring an own goal me thinks”
