SCHOOLS across the city are to receive a DVD on re-using and recycling.

It is being distributed as part of this year's Big Spring Clean and follows pupils from Bluebell Hill Primary School in St Ann's on a journey of discovery around a landfill site and a supermarket.

It also gives practical advice on how to reduce the rubbish you create.

Besides the Big Spring Clean, which runs until April 25, the initiative is also part of the WISE project, which offers advice on waste and wider environmental issues.

Coun Katrina Bull, portfolio holder for environment and climate change at Nottingham City Council, said: "Educating people at a young age about the importance of recycling and reducing waste is significant for tackling climate change and improving sustainable living. We hope the projects will encourage young people to care about the environment."
