City house burglaries rise by nearly 20% in just three months
HOUSE burglaries have risen by more than two-thirds in some parts of Nottingham – despite a major operation to reduce them.
Notts Police launched Operation Arrow at the beginning of April.
-

The 90-day county-wide blitz was the force's response to fierce criticism from Government inspectors. But figures provided to the Post show burglaries actually rose in the city between April 1 and June 30, compared to the same period last year.
They were up 90 per cent in Clifton North, 73 per cent in Leen Valley, 72 per cent in Bestwood, 67 per cent in Bilborough and 66 per cent in Basford.
Across the whole city there was a 19 per cent rise in house burglaries over the three months. Assistant Chief Constable Paul Broadbent said the force was now looking at gathering more forensic evidence from burglary scenes and identifying individual burglars for multiple offences.
But critics have questioned how the force will pay for this at a time of massive budget cuts.

“Is unemployment increasing? If they cannot find work, they'll take where they can.
Very simple this inconvenient truth!”

“From experience the Notts recruiting system cannot differentiate from recruits who want to skive or want to help? That will be the biggest help for them. Perhaps evidence of helping? rather than skivving? From previous job 'Experience' and NOT degrees?”

“Quite an amusing few comments here, particularly from the so called "moral authority" who stated previous comments were banging on about the origins of burglars - which one?
"Funny how their focus on the nationality
of petty criminals"
and yes I do think most burglaries are commited by British citizens, many of whom would be white chavs. Why is burglary a "petty crime"?”

“Notice how the resident rednecks on here
don't have much to say when crime happens in cracker areas.
Funny how their focus on the nationality
of petty criminals is usually at the expense
of remembering the worst criminals (serial murderers, paedophiles, big fraudsters, neglective and abusive parents etc) in this country are invariably white.
moral authority, Where You Lot Can't Walk...
we live in western europe so most are/should be white whether they commit crime or not.
petty crime is commited by imports because that's their level.”

“what a joke this country has become , especially this city . half the people go to work and get robbed by the other half who can't be bothered to work . When they're caught the do-gooders jump up and defend them ,”

“The only real conclusion we can draw from this is, is the fact we are continually lied to through manipulated statistics, and the mass of statistics currently in circulation. We cannot ignore the fact that these statistics constantly contradict each other, niether can we ignore the fact more emphasis is placed on generating statistics for PR purposes.
Crime is a funny entity, we know the statistic generation takes Police away from policing duties, and that most people suffer bouts of apathy and will not involve themselves in positive action, it is a combination of these and many other factors which leads to higher crime rates. People need to stand up against crime, often it is a few hardcore criminals who commit the majority of crime, and often they know the softly softly approach to sentencing will mean they get a slapped wrist, nothing more.
Until everyone pulls in the same direction we will get nowhere with resolving the issues.”

“As one of the victims of these burglaries in one of the aforementioned areas; I have first hand experience. I can't speak for other people, but I used to be a bit 'cavalier' when it came to security. People never think it will happen to them. As neighbourhood Watcher said, "we all have to do our bit". There can't be many things worse than having your home invaded while you sleep soundly in your bed!”

“I am not suprized at all over the increase in burglaries, 9 out 10 crimes is commited by repeat offenders, and causes fear within communties, Nottinghamshire police doesnt tackle repeat offending, this is the biggest cause of crime, people these days dont want to get invovled, i been vicitim of crime, too many bystanders about.”
