Chek's retirement village plans jump another hurdle
CHEK Whyte's plans to build a retirement village at Stanford Hall will not be halted by the Government Office for the East Midlands.
A scheme to build a 120-dwelling retirement village plus 70-bed residential care home needed clearance because it affects a Grade II-listed building.

Now the office has announced it will not intervene in the plans for the Stanford Hall estate in Stanford-on-Soar, near East Leake.
Chek Whyte Industries must now hold talks with Rushcliffe Borough Council over details of the plan before it can go ahead.
CWI architect Roger Harrison said: "It's very pleasing news. We still have to agree details with Rushcliffe Borough Council and get it all signed off and processed.
"We have every expectation it can be sorted out relatively quickly.
"It's in the hands of the legal teams of the developer and the local authority. We are confident it will go ahead."
A Grade II-listed 1930s lido will be demolished and the Hall's theatre foyer will be replaced with a bigger, more modern foyer, but overall the estate will be renovated to its former glory and maintained under the scheme.
