CHAMPIONS West Indian Cavaliers ended their successful defence of the Notts Premier League on a low-key note at relegated Gedling.

Cavs – who had already clinched the title the previous week – could manage only a losing draw.

The home side posted a useful 198-9 off their 50 overs and then restricted Cavaliers to 178-9 in reply to bow out of the league on a high note.

League runners-up Kimberley also finished their campaign with a winning draw as they were bowled out for 173 against Wollaton – the McMahons, Gerry and Paul sharing seven wickets.

In reply, Wollaton were left hanging on at 140-9 as Jon Shaw and Jason Gorman both taking three wickets.

Caythorpe, who for much of the season set the pace at the top of the table only to fall away at the end with a couple of damaging defeats, finished third as they closed with a draw at home to Plumtree.

Caythorpe made 190-8 with Sam Ogrizovic top-scoring. Leon Botha then took four wickets but Plumtree held on at 171-8.

Clifton rounded off their season in style with an emphatic 83-run win at home to relegated Killamarsh.

Liam Andrews led the way for the home side as he made 78 in their imposing total of 268-8 and then he took three wickets as Killamarsh were all out for 185.

Papplewick, another side whose season petered out somewhat towards the end, were thumped at Cuckney by eight wickets.

The visitors posted 188 but Cuckney made short work of that as Richard Stroh thumped an unbeaten 95 to see his side comfortably home with more than six overs to spare.
