BRYAN Chambers today revealed he took the decision to go it alone at Hucknall Town by relieving joint managers Mick Galloway and Andy Miller of their duties.

The former Eastwood boss (pictured) was recently installed as director of football after the Yellows' poor start to the season.

But he quickly realised the only hope of pulling the Watnall Road club out of the mire was to remove any confusion by making the decisions himself.

"I can't praise Mick and Andy highly enough," said Chambers. "As coaches they are two of the best young ones I have worked with and I Continued: Page 35

hope they both get back into football.

"But from a Hucknall Town point of view I felt they had to go.

"It was me who made the decision and I told them to their faces. I think they appreciated I had the guts to do it and they took it like men.

"It is very difficult to make decisions with three people and I don't even think having two managers works.

"But now just one person has to decide and if things now go wrong on the football field there is only one person to blame – me – and I'm happy to accept that."

Chambers confirmed Richard Liburd will be his assistant and will be talking to Chris Timons tonight about taking on a coaching role.

He has moved quickly to sign Kris Matthews on loan from Eastwood for a month and extended the stay of Chris Shaw, also from the Badgers, for a second month.

Hucknall chairman Brian Holmes said: "Bryan told me he thought it was the best thing to do it on his own.

"I told him he had my backing to do what was needed to get this club back on its feet.

"You need spirit in this league which Mick and Andy had but you also need to find the right players and that was their big problem."

But the departing Miller felt the players were as good as could be expected with the budget available.

"It is hugely disappointing, but I would like to thank Brian Holmes for giving us the opportunity and I have enjoyed working with a great set of lads.

"When you look at the results you have to say we deserve to be sacked but there are a lot of things going on behind the scenes that have contributed to that.

"I disagree with the idea we lacked the right contacts. We are fourth in the pecking order behind Eastwood, Ilkeston and Alfreton in this area, which makes it a massive challenge.

"We got the best players in we could with the financial constraints placed upon us."
