THE race is on for our Cash For Your Community charities to collect as many coupons as possible.

Today, we print the first voting coupon, so that readers can decide who gets what.

A total of 150 groups have registered for the campaign – and will all receive a share of £35,000.

The more coupons a charity collects, the bigger their share of the cash will be.

David Marlow, chief executive of Nottingham Building Society, the Post's partner in the campaign, said: "We're very excited about the voting opening. Last year, the community really got behind their favourite charities to collect tokens and we're hoping this year will be the same.

"Doing Good Together is all about supporting the community and I hope readers join in to help entrants."

Groups that have registered this year are supporting one of five themes – education, employability, elderly people, hospices and disability.

All successful groups have been sent registration packs, which have everything they need to get supporters into action. As well as asking family and friends to collect coupons for them, groups can set up boxes in newsagents and pubs.

Last year, Josh Biddulph delivered letters seeking coupon donations for Clifton Football Club to more than 200 houses.

As well as collecting for a share of the prize fund, charities are competing against each other for bonus prizes of £1,000. These will go to the top collector under each theme.

Post editor Mel Cook said: "I'm delighted that we are able to make a contribution to the great work that these charities do," he said.

"I now look forward to seeing everyone in the community get behind these charities and help them win their share of our £35,000 to enable them to continue with that very important work."

Coupons should be sent to the Post by 5pm on July 6.
