Carl Froch column
AFTER more than two years and almost 10,000 miles in the air, flying around the world, fighting the very best in the sport, I'm pleased to tell you all that on May 5 it looks very likely that I will be finally coming back home to fight in Nottingham.
The Capital FM Arena is all booked ready for me and I'm about to step back into light training at my local Nuffield Gym on Mapperley Top.

Carl Froch
I've done a few spinning classes at the Nuffield and have even made a surprise entry into their 'Boxercise' class which was surprisingly quite intense and enjoyable at the same time.
The running machines and treadmills are perfect to ease me back into the fitness zone until the snow and ice clears from my usual running routes around my home.
Then, at some point in April, I'm possibly looking at heading over to do some altitude training in Tenerife, at my friends' new boxing camp out there.
I will be looking at running up my old friend, Mount Tiede, which is more than 12,000 feet high and is something like the second or third tallest volcano in the world.
I did my preparation for the ill-fated Denis Inkin fight there in April 2008 and running at that altitude is extremely intense. It's tremendous exercise.
The opponent for May 5 is still to be resolved. Without being coy about who we are hoping to bring over, there aren't many people prepared to fight me out there at super-middleweight and that includes IBF champion Lucian Bute, who refused to come to Nottingham for the date.
Showtime, the American television company, ruled me out from fighting him in Canada, as they want Bute to fight an American opponent to suit their viewing demographic.
Showtime have Bute on a three-fight deal and he's not fought an American opponent yet so it's something they're insisting on.
So that leaves two or three other names in the mix for the May 5 fight.
The first is one many of you boxing fans may recognise, the ever-game Mexican Librado Andrade.
He is a big, strong guy who comes to do damage. I'm sure he'd get into the trenches with me.
The Andrade fight could be an IBF final eliminator. So, in theory, if I could win that it would make the Lucian Bute fight happen without question.
We'd actually get an opportunity to table a purse bid and if good enough, could force Bute to come to Nottingham.
And, if he didn't have the courage, he'd have to vacate and hide in Quebec.
A less familiar name who is also being considered is Noe Gonzalez Alcoba, who is presently the No.3 WBC ranked super-middleweight.
While I've not heard much of Gonzalez, he has 20 wins by knockout and holds the WBC silver title, which sets me back on course for my old belt should that one happen.
But regardless who it is, the venue will be packed to the rafters and will likely sell out very quickly.
The fight itself will be televised at a reasonable British hour and not in the middle of the morning, like the Andre Dirrell fight.
And with the fabulous stable of fighters we have at Matchroom Promotions, I'm sure there will be a big undercard fight or two to support the main event. It's the least my loyal fans deserve.
Until then I will keep you all updated, here in the Post, as it happens.

“"Froach is a never been and a never will be."
He was/is a 2x world champion, so he has been already. Twice. Wakey wakey.
I think its you who is a never-will-be. And your obviously very bitter about it.
As for the guy who reckons Froch is a journeyman. Not worth a response. A poor effort at wumming if you ask me. Very lazy.”

“Mr pigs, you're clearly a hard man to please. Not many of us become world champs at anything and Nottingham's got enough wannabe idiots punching people for no reason on Friday and Saturday nights. I'm glad he's now only smacking people in the boxing ring to be honest.”
