Cancelled holiday heartache after death of husband
A PENSIONER whose husband died a few months before they were due to go on holiday says she has been left "devastated" by a travel company's actions.
June Hawkridge, 73, of Clifton, contacted First Choice to cancel her dream trip to Jamaica after her husband Bernard died last June.

'Upsetting': June Hawkridge with a picture of herself with her late husband, Bernard, and the letters sent by First Choice.
But she says she has since been repeatedly contacted about the holiday as if it were still going ahead, forcing her to relive her loss every time.
"After my husband died, I cancelled the holiday because it would have been too much to take," she said.
"But since November, I have received around five calls and five letters from people either trying to sell me another holiday or talk about the holiday in Jamaica.
"They ring me and say things like 'Are you excited about your holiday, Mrs Hawkridge?', and it brings it all back.
"It has been absolutely devastating."
Mrs Hawkridge said she booked the holiday in February 2010 and was set to leave for Jamaica on April 14 this year. Her husband died on June 10 at the age of 75.
"I cancelled the holiday in early August, and everything seemed fine.
"But then I started getting these calls – every time they rang the callers would apologise, but it hasn't stopped so far.
"I have also had about five letters, which has also been upsetting – one was addressed to 'Mr Hawkridge', even though I booked the holiday."
She says the last call she had was on January 18, and the last letter she received, advising the couple on what to do next for the Jamaica trip, came on January 21.
A First Choice spokeswoman said: "First Choice would like to apologise to Mrs Hawkridge for any distress caused as a result of our call centre contacting her, several times, about a holiday she had previously cancelled.
"Mrs Hawkridge has now been removed from all mailing lists and call centre systems, and will no longer receive any contact from First Choice."
Mrs Hawkridge first met her husband at the age of 11, and says they would have celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary this May if had he still been alive.
She said: "Lots of things make me remember him and miss him. That's natural, but when they ring about the holiday it sets me off again.
"I find it disgusting that this kept happening."

“I feel really sorry for this lady. First Choice seem to be a permanent resident on BBC Watchdog. They couldn't pay me to take one of their 'holidays'. They're an utter disgrace and the fact they feature on Watchdog year after year with the same atrocious conditions and service proves they really have no intention of improving. They should be forced by the courts to rename themselves 'Last Choice'.”
