PRIME Minister David Cameron has said that the coalition government will be an era of "new politics".

He made the pledge during the first joint news conference with Lib Dem deputy prime minister Nick Clegg.

Mr Cameron, Conservative, said that the five-year agreement would see the national interest being "more important than the party interest".

He said that Great Britain had seen a "historic and seismic shift in our political landscape".

Speaking at Downing Street, he added: "It will be administration united behind three key principles: freedom, fairness and responsibility.

"And it will be an administration united behind one key purpose and that is to give our country the strong and stable and determined leadership that we need for the long-term."

Speaking after Mr Cameron, Mr Clegg, who promised to give "power and fairness" back to the people, said: "Until today, we were rivals, and now we are colleagues, and that says a lot about the new politics that's now beginning to unfold."

Vote Lib Dem, get the Tories. Predictable.

Actually, vote LibDem, get LibDem. Who would have predicted that?”

“M, the idea that we've got competition in those industries is simply a myth.

It's certainly not true with water. That is unless you move out of the area...

And with gas and electricity, they all rip you off; look how British Gas has been profiteering during the winter months last year.

Dittohead94's got a valid point though, too. The trouble is that we can try all we like with those kind of schemes but then the nimbys kick up a fuss and the council is forced to throw it out.”

“The single reason we are getting more costly fuel bills has got b*gger all to do with privatisation or nationalised industires. The REAL reason is that fossils fuels are running low, our own oil reserves were predicted as far back as the late 1980's to start running low by the same time we eventually would get those Ashes back in 2005. Neither Tory or Labour invested in a partnership of Nuclear fuel and renewable sources of energy anywhere soon enough. Expect your bills to rise more and more people whilst we dither, and just wait for those power cuts. They will hit councils and homes just as much as private industry.”
