Bygones: Tidswell recalls those happy days with Hoods at Harvey Hadden
THE news that a book is coming out on the history of the Nottingham Hoods American Football team has brought back happy memories of sunny, and not so sunny, afternoons at Harvey Hadden Stadium.
Days with Bink Marshall, Steve Raven, Albert Thompson and Mick Terrington.
-

Days when American star Clifton Straughter was almost a one-man team. And only a brave man, or a fool, stood in the way of running back Clifton Mitchell (pictured scoring), who was good enough to fight big James Oyebola for the vacant British heavyweight boxing title in Cardiff, in 1994.
Straughter, who arrived on these shores in 1986, also took some stopping. He rushed for 3,104 yards and had a record 51 touchdowns in one season.

The book is a labour of love by Dave Tidswell (left), who was a founder member of the club. He is currently looking for a printer.
The fascinating book leans heavily on the superb photographs taken by club photographer Mark Bell. It contains over 30,000 words and around 400 pictures.
