HUCKNALL'S Sean Butler notched the first ton of the year at Little John Lakes.

He weighed 121-12 of carp on long pole and bread, fished at half depth, at Robin Hood 27. Mark Crewe was a distant second with 75-2.

Butler landed 44 carp to 6lb (one every six minutes). But he missed out on the five-hour lake record of 135lb, currently held by Steve Keyworth.

Friday's veteran's match was won by Andy Hill with 19-5, while venue owner Steve Beard topped Tuesday's Open on Maid Marion with 33-15.

Jamie Masson had an impressive double top at Hallcroft. He won Sunday's Open with a nice ton-plus net of carp. He weighed 116-4 on expander pellet and corn at Moat Outer 105.

Pete Bagshaw's good form continued with second place. He caught 75-14 of carp on pole and pellet at 11m at Outer 98.

Lee Coupe edged a close third spot with 59-10 of carp and bream on the feeder with banded pellet at Moat Island 68.

Masson also topped an eight-pegger on Croft. He fished a light bomb rod, using hair-rigged pellet and corn to the middle of peg 21, for 44-4 of carp, tench and bream. Pete Miles fished pellet on the pole at 13m at peg 27 for 34-10.

With the cold wind sweeping across Moat, a peg on the island was the favoured draw for the Veterans' Open.

Local rod Barry Rance, on peg 61, used a small pellet feeder with corn and hair-rigged pellet for 66lb of carp to double figures.

Nottingham's Roy Toulson was second with 50-5 on the tip at Island 58. He alternated pellet, maggot and corn for carp to 8lb.

Retford's Pete Topham, on Island 67, fished a pellet cone with hair-rigged meat for 48-12 of carp to 9lb.

Paul McIntyre won Saturday's Open on Moat. He fished pole and pellet at 13m at Moat Outer 94 for 81-8 of carp to 7lb.

Worksop's Gordon Gibson, on Outer 98, was runner-up with 76-2 of carp to 7lb on pole and pellet.

Steve Draper was top rod at Lakeview with 55-14 in Sunday's Open at Canal 13. Old Mansfield rival Brian Elliott was second with 45-5 at peg 9.

The veterans' match attracted 22 rods and was spread over Serpent and Marina, which produced the top three weights.

Steve Nattrass fished pole, bread and maggot to the far shelf at peg 1 for 53-12.

John Cooke used pole, pellet and maggot to the far shelf at Marina 19 for 36-9 of carp.

Martin Quiltar caught 36-4 of carp on red maggot at Marina 23. Best weight on Serpent was 31-8 at peg 8.

Ray Redwood topped the other veterans' match with 39-8 on pole and pellet at Harbour 23.

Dave Sewell was second with 30-8 on pellet at Harbour 18, while Draper weighed 30-8. He fished maggot to the far shelf for carp and a couple of bonus chub.

Paul Kania won the first Wednesday Open of the year at Oak Tree Lakes, in Brinsley, with 37-15. His four best carp weighed 31-8. Pete Giles was second with four carp and 3lb of silvers. Matches are £11 all in (fishing 10am-3pm).

Richard Cooke and guests had a knock-up match at the Janson Fishery. Despite the minus overnight temperatures, decent winter weights were to be had.

Colin Hunt made the most of peg 36, taking 50-5 to the scales. Conner Clarke, on peg 22, fished double red pinkie on 2lb line and size 22 hook for 43-12. He included almost 5lb of silvers. Neil Raynor was third with 36-4 off peg 10.

The cold conditions put paid to any decent weights for Parkside's visit to Hacketts.

A lone 8-14 carp was enough to give Martin Turner victory. Mal Kirkland fished pole to take 3-3 of silvers for second spot.
