Judge Michael Stokes jailed him for seven years for possession of the gun, noting that a bullet was contained in the weapon. He was given two years for possession of the ammunition and three-and-half years for the drugs charge. These sentences are to run concurrently.

Detective Inspector Keith Priest said: "The fact that both Wright and a potentially lethal firearm are now off the streets is excellent news for the people of Nottingham.

"This sentence sends out a clear message that people who own guns illegally, or act as custodians of firearms for other people, will receive serious sentences from the courts."

“Freevee, take it that means Free V? As in Vandell?
He was caught with a gun, if he's man enough to carry a gun, he's man enough to do the bird...
He knew the score, he's got off very lightly, there are way too many idiots with guns.

If it had been your kid, mum, uncle, friend who had been shot you would be singing a different tune.

Commenting, St Anns, no silver spoon, no rich daddy or mummy.”

“by freeveechild "abusing man from derby was only given 3 years so is it more ov a crime to have a gun to protect ureself than harm an innocent child"

What has having a loaded gun to do with protecting yourself (more likely to protect his stash of drugs found in the search).........since when has this country gone down the same road as the US? There is no excuse or need to have a firearm for protection. Buy a friggin guard dog if you want protection or a bouncer not a gun.

Your rant about the Government and invading other countries is somewhat off topic!

At the end of the day Mr Wright had in his possession of a loaded handgun and ammunition. He is lucky that he received such a light sentence.”
