TRAMS were halted for an hour yesterday following a grass fire in Bulwell.

It was feared the blaze in undergrowth around Potters Hollow could spread to tram tracks. Trams along the route were stopped as a precaution.

Firefighters from Stockhill station were called out at about 5.10pm to two separate fires and were at the scene for around half an hour.

Some fares on trams are due to increase from tomorrow.

Off-peak singles will rise from £1.50 to £1.60, while peak singles, before 9.30am on weekdays, will remain at £2.50. Child fares are also unchanged. The 15-day pre-pay adult ticket will rise from £19 to £22, while all-week tickets will climb from £12 to £13.50 and all-day tickets will increase from £2.70 to £3.
