HUCKNALL Town boss Danny Bryant is sticking by his players after last weekend's fiery encounter at North Ferriby.

The Yellows had three players – Reuben Wiggins-Thomas, Deon Meikle and Cashell Walters – sent off in a 2-2 draw at Grange Lane, while two Ferriby players were also dismissed.

Four of those red cards came close to the final whistle. The trouble continued when the players headed for the dressing room after the match finished.

But Bryant has played things down and will not take any disciplinary action until he has seen the referee's report.

"I don't think it was a brawl and not as bad as some of the things that have been written about it," said Bryant.

"It was all in the heat of the moment. Obviously you don't want to see things like that. You just want a good game, but the lads will always stick together.

"I will look at the report before deciding what action, if any, to take. You have to look at each case individually.

"But I have reminded the players of the FA Respect campaign and they will be reminded about it again."

Saturday's point keeps Hucknall unbeaten under Bryant with two wins and two draws.

And it is a measure of how well they are doing that he was disappointed they did not secure three points after surrendering a two-goal lead.

Bryant said: "We went into the match full of confidence. We wanted to go there and show we can compete with the top teams in the division and I thought we did.

"We were well on top but then the first sending off (Wiggins-Thomas) changed the game.

"It was frustrating because we were doing well, but it was still pleasing to take a point."

All three players shown red cards will receive three-match bans but they will not take effect until after tomorrow's home game with Frickley Athletic.

Meanwhile, Hucknall have signed Liam Garner and Curtis Shaw but they have sold Luke Shiels to Worksop for a four-figure sum.

David Boafo (knee) should be back in contention after missing the North Ferriby game.

Hucknall: Haystead, Smedley, Walters, Hawes, Boafo, Stevenson, Wilson, O'Brien, Meikle, Hawkridge, Wiggins-Thomas, Nightingale, Whittington, Bonnick, Kelly, Holmes.
