Boy George storms out of interview (with audio)
BOY George walked out on a radio interview after being quizzed about his drugs past.
The former Culture Club singer stormed out of a chat with Tony Lyman for Nottingham based station 106.6 Smooth Radio.

Boy George - "just not doing it"
When questioned about his arrest in New York and widely documented issues with drugs for the Six At Six show, George initially appeared quite happy to respond, talking about the "amazingly supportive people" of New York and how his community service was in the end "just a bit of sweeping".
But then he suddenly left the studio saying "I really don't want to do this interview.....I'm sorry but I'm just not doing it" when asked if his drug taking signaled the end of Culture Club.
Presenter Tony Lyman said: "We were doing the interview via a studio link and I thought we'd got off to a good start....Boy George was giving some very honest answers. But then the air went dead, never a good thing in radio, and I realised he'd gone!"
The Six at Six feature is usually an hour-long interview interspersed with six songs chosen by the guest. Boy George's appearance on Smooth Radio, which preceded his forthcoming concerts in the East Midlands as part of a UK tour, will be somewhat shorter when it is broadcast on Smooth Radio at 6pm tonight (Friday).

“he's lucky it wasn't jay leno!
if he is stupid enough to take drugs then he deserves all the stick he gets.
i have met tony lyman on a couple of occasions and he is a really nice bloke-and never took a drug in his life (well except the odd fag).
as for boy george-i have no sympathy for him or anyone of his ilk.”

“he didnt talk about the Southamerican tour. tony should ask him about it. he shouldnt ask him at first if he´s still taking drugs in that way. that´s NOT the way. george is very open in interviews and if he left the studio is coz he felt it was unrespectful. he needs publicity for this tour, but not this type.

“The only thing interesting about boyy george is his skag addiction and if he may spil the beans about one of his many drug fuelled escapades .. so why is the silly lad storming off ? Maybe the call of radford roads cr4ckhouses was too strong ...???”

“I've not listened to the interview, but to keep raking up old coals seems like cheap journalism to me. Was his recent tour of South America mentioned?
Gail, my wife and I are looking forward to seeing him in Derby next month & the concert at the RCH earlier in the year was brill.”
