POLICE are continuing enquiries into a pool of blood found on a city street.

An area around York House in Mansfield Road was cordoned off on Saturday as forensic officers took samples.

Inspector Gordon Fenwick said: "Officers found the blood on the pavement at around 4am.

"We have no reports of anything happening, there is nothing on CCTV and we have contacted the hospitals, but they don't know anything about this either.

"We are taking the evidence in case something comes to light later on."

Vehicles could still use Mansfield Road and the area was reopened later on Saturday.

“I walked past all this blood on saturday afternoon, 2pm it was still there, not cleaned up by police or council. nothing was sectioned off either. there was a hell of a lot of blood too, masses on the main entrance to york house and all over the window and doors, oddly there was no drip, splats etc coming too or from the scene. was and is weird to see, being from nottingham I was proud to come home for the weekend and bring my GF too, who was a little worried because of the bad press, and we walked past that, eek, Notts just seems to be getting worse and worse! County are on the up, and forest are bottom so its not all bad news! ;)”

“i wonder where all of the forensic officers were as if they were there be4the dust had settled maybe they might have had a fingerprint. who does this blood belong to and how has it come to be evident on the streets, around my way especially when i woz a wee lad coming up thahardway blood on the street is apparently bad regarding the fact that it may have been from a passing objekt i.e maybe a human#?hopefully a better species but its seems mor of our troops are suffering like,. i dont blame the pcs for not doing things by the book the state of the economy and many other factors come in to consideration end of the day wheres a doctor or a blood donor when u need one?
Answer is a phone call or a 3year waiting list away.thank u and i believe in taking bows while u still can otherwise people will remain hyperactive until there dieing days, there was evidence of the crime in other places i.e leaving blood on the street at asking the council to clean it up. how about gun c rime i hope its not raising through the roof as i have a seven year old kid hes about to start at a private boarding school soon i hope he doesnt get bullied with a name like mike ive come to expect the worst now i am even afraid to let my little miky out in to the back garden and eveytime hes on the street its in a car. i dont know for some reason values have been either misplaced or lost along the rat race and for some reason im worse off. having been a crime fighting, tax paying law abiding citizen for over 5 years of my life i do find this latest phase of labours tactical warfare extremely obsure, damn outrageous and also a complete shambles i forgot aswell as a disgrace, i vote labour everyyear and now they refuse my relatives the chance for assylum and also the right to protest........tbc”

“It is CPO not CSO. CSOs are PCSOs CPOs work for the council. There is a massive difference.”

“I'm no expert but I'd say the blood has come from the blood vessel of some kind of mammal...not sure what other peoples' thoughts are?”
