THE total prize fund for the Aintree Grand National has risen to £975,000 for 2012.

That represents an increase of £25,000 from last season and prize money will now extend down to those who finish in eighth and ninth.

Managing director Julian Thick said: "We have again managed to increase the prize fund for Britain's biggest jump race by £25,000."
