Bertrand: Forest can now put transfer distractions to one side
NOTTINGHAM Forest can kick-start their Championship season without distractions, now the transfer window has closed, says Ryan Bertrand.
The defender admits that the speculation surrounding players' futures has been an unsettling factor.

Kelvin Wilson was the subject of sustained interest from Celtic, while Forest were linked with many transfer targets, including Swansea's Darren Pratley and Cardiff's Peter Whittingham.
The window closed without Forest making any further additions to the signing of Bertrand, who joined on a six-month loan from Chelsea on the eve of the new season.
Now the window has shut, Bertrand says the whole squad can focus on getting the job done on the pitch.
"The transfer window is closed so, when we come back in, we will be able to settle down and go for it," he said.
"I am settled here, so it does not affect me. But in some situations, it probably does affect players.
"Speculation is always going to be there. If you are getting linked with clubs, it is going to influence you."
Bertrand believes the window should close before the season starts in future, to put an end to this situation.
He said: "It would definitely help if the window closed before the start of the season and maybe opened up earlier, to give people the time to get their squads sorted out.
"But the season can start for us in a strange way now, because that distraction has gone."

“not sure how true these are but these are a few rumours ive heard from sources, not saying they are 100% true, but i will put them on here & see if anyone has heard the same?
*martin o neill will be attending notts county home game v yeovil this saturday, not sure why?[doubt he is set to become director of football at meadow lane].
*doughty, arthur & pleat didnt give money to davies before the window closed because they are saving funds for o neill for when hes appointed so wages can be paid towards potential loan signings by o neill.
*doughty, arthur & pleat are trying to force davies out without sacking him by not allowing him to sign players in the hope he will walk, they cant afford to pay him off AND appoint o neill & robertson.
*nigel doughty is having personal problems, someone has heard that hes split from his wife & hes lost his mother recently,he is also considering selling up as hes seeking a fresh start after these setbacks in his personal life.
not sure if these will turn out to be true but from now to the next home game v millwall,i wouldnt be surprised if something happens at the city ground.”

“Mickey Finn..talk about insults mate. I have nothing at all to do with the complete T**t that mike notts is. I am not a Forest basher. I have been supporting Forest since the dark days of Allan Brown. What sickens me is what Doughty and Arthur have done to this club over 11 years. If my constant harping about them makes you think I am anti Forest I can assure you nothing is further from the truth.”

“Has anyone noticed that since Mike, Notts disappeared, Mick, Peterborough has suddenly Appeared.
Coincidence? I think not. Both Forest bashers just from a different angle.”

“redweaver..Look at page 60 of yesterdays Sun if you dont have a copy I can tell you what is there. All Championship clubs close season comings and goings. The Forest text box was the only one that was half empty.
And to think you all complain about Billy moaning about no signings. How right he was.”

“same old, same old, on here again.
to the person talking about the euro years - remember cloughie took us there by ensuring the players HE HAD gave their best for 90 minutes every game, ensured they were confident in their own ability and that of those around them, giving the team a strong basis on which to build. it's a shame the same can't be said of the current manager.
and before anyone says 'football is different today' you are right, it is, and we aren't part of the bigtime, even with the chairman chucking some of his money into the club.
if we want answers as to why we aren't in the premier league, we need not look beyond ourselves. larger crowds would help, as would dropping some of the negativity, from fans and managers alike.
marthur may be a joke but at the end of the day unless you sit with him all day long, you have no idea how competent he is. and saying we failed to sign players, therefore its ma's fault is ultimately the height of ignorance.”
