Belfast forward banned for Panthers cup clashes
BELFAST Giants former NHL forward Greg Stewart has been hit with a nine-game ban.
He will miss both Challenge Cup semi-final legs against Nottingham Panthers, the first of which is at the National Ice Centre on Wednesday.
After Belfast's game against Cardiff last Sunday, the Devils asked the league disciplinary committee to review two incidents involving the 26-year-old Stewart.
He has subsequently been suspended for three games for 'checking to the head', another three for 'kneeing' and has had an extra three games added because of the two serious incidents in one game.
