Basford explosion victim speaks of her ordeal for the first time
A WOMAN seriously injured in a house explosion has spoken for the first time about her ordeal.
Mum-of-four Sandra Shaw says she is now focusing on her recovery after losing part of a leg in the blast at her home in Stockhill Lane, Basford, on June 20.
She also suffered serious burns and arm and eye injuries and is still being treated in hospital, but was allowed out for the first time on Sunday to meet friends and family.
She said: "It feels great to be out of hospital as I feel safe and with my family. It's magical."
Of the incident, she added: "The first thing I remember is that I was in a coma and I could hear my daughter, Natasha, rattling on at me.
"I do not know when I'll be out of hospital properly yet. I'm going to have an operation on my eyes to see if I can see again."

Around 200 people joined Ms Shaw at Amici bar, in West Bridgford, for a fundraiser in aid of the family.
Her eldest daughter, Natasha, 24, said: "I'm over the moon with how she's doing and I can't wait for her to come home. It is a miracle that she's alive."
Brother Trevor Shaw, 41, of Sneinton, said: "When I first saw her after the explosion she was in such a bad state. Even the ambulance workers were shocked.
"She's just looking forward to the future and getting better. My sister is a strong girl and I know she can come out of this."
Ms Shaw's partner, Alex Kirk, 38, who was also seriously injured and remains in hospital, was arrested this month on suspicion of attempted murder.
