BREAKING NEWS: Notts part company with boss Allen
NOTTS County have parted company with manager Martin Allen following today's 3-0 defeat at Hartlepool.
Allen saved the Magpies from relegation into League Two at the end of last season and this campaign, led them to as high as third in League One.
Notts had won back-to-back matches before today's defeat and are 11th in the table.
However, the club have announced he has been relieved of his duties with immediate effect.
Magpies’ club owner Ray Trew, in a statement, said: “I fully appreciate the reaction and element of ill-feeling among a section of our fans over our decision to part company with Martin Allen.
“The details of this matter are being handled in private, but I felt it important that I assure the fans that this decision would not have been taken had the board of directors not felt that it was in the best interests of Notts County Football Club.
“I fully appreciate this has not been a universally popular decision, not least because of the work that Martin has put into developing a relationship with the supporters, but we have to look at the bigger picture and do what we feel is right for this football club.
“Whilst we strive for stability and a sustained period of growth and expansion under a settled structure, we have to make sure that we have the right people in place at the foundations of this structure if it is to go from strength to strength in the future”

“Robert Fripp (King Crimson guitarist) once said:
When the record company makes a mistake, the artist pays for it.
When the manager makes a mistake, the artist pays for it.
When the artist makes a mistake, the artist pays for it.
Translated into football terms:
When the chairman makes a mistake, the manager pays for it.
When the players make a mistake, the manager pays for it.
When the manager makes a mistake, the manager pays for it.

“Lets add Don Masson signed at the same time as Bob Worthington £5,000 and Barry Watling who saved 7 or 8 penalties in a row classy Ray O'Brien . Willie Carlin, Ritchie Barker, wingers Crickmore and Nixon not to mention cup winning Killer Kilcline.
However the one we have most to be thankful for is Les Bradd.
His goal on Boxing Day 74 was the catalyst for 2 European Cups!
Best of luck Martin”
