NOTTS County have axed Keith Curle, after they lost 2-1 to League One bottom side Hartlepool United yesterday.

The Magpies are in tenth place in League One, but Curle has still been relieved of his duties with immediate effect.

He was told by chairman Ray Trew, who was at the game at Victoria Park, this morning.

"This obviously is not a decision that we have taken lightly and certainly not one that I have taken any pleasure in reaching, I have a tremendous amount of respect for Keith Curle both as a man and a manager," said Trew.

"Since Keith first came in, just under a year ago, we, as a Board, have backed him to bring in the players that he believed could move Notts County on to the next level and felt that he assembled a squad capable of challenging for promotion this season."

"However, recent displays have unfortunately not lived up to expectations and our poor disciplinary record this season has only further hampered our progress," he added.

"Attendances at Meadow Lane have dropped in recent weeks and this has made this a business decision as much as a footballing one, because fans are obviously key to the club and their support is essential.

"I would like to thank Keith, as well as Colin Lee and Colin West for all of their hard work and effort over the past year, there have been plenty of highs to enjoy in that period but there comes a time when we, as a Board, have to consider what we feel is best for the future of the club."

In terms of both Lee and West, they have also left the club along with Curle.

“Can I just say a Thank You to KC for the following achievements
    1) That run last season - not his fault Hughesy missed an absolute sitter in first five minutes against Bury - a win then could have put us in the play offs and who knows....
    2) Improving Judgy 's game so
    3) Bringing in some quality players last Summer _ Deano, Lids, Bart, JCR. Shame the French duo went off the boil, and not his fault Enoch has a hernia on his wallet side -
    4) The start this season, weren't we top of the league.
Regular readers know my criticisms but surely he was badly let down by some of the players, will they survive the new appointment and will he get the season mving again. KC's record last season needs improvimg on so he'll have to be up and running pdq.......”

“It's ok saying that Cutiepie. i can't imagine that there will be a que of people lining up to buy the club. There weren't that many prepared to step in after the Munto fiasco was there.”

“My opinion of Mr Trew has really gone downhill. He takes none of the blame himself, and is just not a people person. Which is why he put his wife as Director, it was stated at the time she was put there to improve fan and notts relations. You can see why, it seems beneath him to do that.

Maybe its Trew that's the problem. So what he saved the club, maybe that's as far as he can take it now.”

“There are some good managers available at the moment:
Gary Megson, Simon Grayson, Phil Brown, Owen Coyle, Nigel Adkins, George Burley, Steve Coppell (director of football, crawley), Steve Cotterill (coach, QPR), Alan Curbishley, Roberto Di Matteo, Iain Dowie, Avram Grant, Mark Hughes, Paul Jewell, Roy Keane, David O'Leary, Nigel Worthington.
I know some of these sound unrealistic but this just proves that there are some quality managers available right now, we dont want any more Ince's or Short's managing our club.
Mr Trew and Mr Rodwell, please take your time and pick a suitable candidate for my beloved club.”

“I agree with the other Roland. I'm a Forest fan too and always look out for County's results. The anti Forest brigade at County ought to be aware that lots of Forest fans want County to do well also.”

    “ExBurtonJoyce:

I'm a forest fan. I follow Notts' results every game they play, as well as Forest's. I've also been very disappointed indeed to see your slide down the table and I sincerely hope you climb back up it. Before the bginning of the season I had you pegged for automatic promotion (yep, it's true) because I know perfectly well that Notts are good enough.

I wouldn't dream of belittling Notts and I doubt if many REAL Forest fans would either.

    Cheers mate.”

“As an 'outsider' thought the great unbeaten away record would have kept him in a job a bit longer.
When are owners/chairman going to realise that swapping managers time after time doesn't work. It pains me to say it but why don't they look at Ferguson's example at Man Utd and hang on. If they keep an sacking and it doesn't work , surely it's the chairman at fault. Don't even get me started on player's responsibility.”
