Awareness needed about self-harming
A NOTTINGHAM charity wants to raise awareness of self-harming as part of a national campaign.
The National Self Harm Network is one of the organisations involved in the Self Harm Awareness Day on Monday.
The registered charity offers services across the county to support people directly affected by self-harm. It aims to help them explore reasons for their self-harming and to seek appropriate professional help.
Staff offer training to professional organisations, universities, charities and user groups.
The network is launching a new helpline running from 7pm to 11pm on 0800 6226000.

“Self Harm Awareness Day is a national day for global awareness raising. Unless I have read the article wrong it says that NSHN are ONE of the ORGANISATIONS involved. Not that its their day or that they are the only ones involved.”

“Unfortunately, the information given is incorrect. The National Self Harm Awareness Day is a national day - it is not organised by NSHN, and is a day for all to share in awareness raising for people that self harm. The charity is but a small part of a national day, where projects are working hard in their own right to influence public awareness and perception. Harmless, a Nottingham based organisation is launching it's new Time to Change-funded self harm awareness book 'In Our Own Words' at the Arts Theatre tonight.
The event will contain readings of the book, and provide a buffet, and an opportunity for people to come along and meet the team and learn more about self harm. For more information, contact info@harmless.org.uk”
