Ashfield MP Gloria De Piero concerned over possible day centre closure
ASHFIELD MP Gloria De Piero wants assurances that Notts County Council will not rubber-stamp decisions to close mental health day centres.
The MP said she had been contacted by families concerned about the future of the Rokerfield Centre, which is one of three under threat.
She has written to Councillor Kevin Rostance, portfolio holder for adult social care and health, to ask that people's views are heard before a final decision is made.
The county council is looking at whether to close the centre, along with Middle Street in Beeston and the Boundary Centre in Worksop.
Miss De Piero said: "This cannot be just an exercise to rubber stamp a foregone conclusion to reduce vital services.
"Service users and their families have been coming to me to tell me their concerns. They fear that if the day centre closes they will not be able to get the care and support they need in the community."

“Go and read the consultation paper - that's exactly what it is. The County is only offering one option.”
