THE icy spell is set to continue in Notts after today.

As the county woke up to a hard frost, temperatures plummeted to -2.5 degrees yesterday morning.

  1. Snow Nottingham

The Met Office said the cold snap had been caused by a build-up of air brought down from the Arctic over the past few days.

And although today won't be particularly cold, with a warmer front from the west bringing temperatures of seven degrees Celsius, the Met Office said a north-westerly wind will make it feel much colder.

After that the cold snap is set to continue into the middle of the week with a similar temperature to yesterday predicted.

By the end of the week it could be a few degrees colder due to a north-westerly wind.

Despite the cold the risk of snow remains low.

The Met Office said: "The picture at the moment is sunshine and showers, with places by the sea getting the snow. But there could be a few wintry showers, especially in the later part of the week, but not that will settle or cause problems."
