ANIMAL rights campaigners will take to the streets of Nottingham today.

Members of Nottingham Animal Rights will be campaigning outside city centre bookmakers before the Grand National horse race at Aintree in Liverpool.

The demonstration starts in St Peter's Gate at 12.30pm.

It is part of the Animal Aid campaign, which highlights the dangers that racing poses to horses.

The campaign claims horse racing leads to the deaths of 300 thoroughbreds each year.
