Animal cruelty is disgusting
I SINCERELY hope this isn't the case, but if someone did actually kill this poor animal in this way ("Was cat thrown to its death?", Post, October 11), I can't put into words how I feel about it.
The way some humans treat animals is appalling, and that's why we have certain laws to protect them.
I believe that whatever a person does to harm an animal, they should get the same sentence and punishment as if they'd done it to another person. That would obviously be more of a deterrent and would save some animals from being so badly treated. Human beings who mistreat defenceless animals are disgusting and probably sick in most cases.

“Yes Mr Unwin, You¿re absolutely correct, and if culprit¿s found, he should suffer the same fate as this unfortunate animal, At worst it would test his capability of landing on his feet. However, there are two groups of people responsible for far worse cruelty to animals than a sadistic scumbag hurling a cat from the seventh floor. Legislation protecting the rights of animals covers most forms of cruelty, but unfortunately doesn¿t apply to animals killed for Halal meats. Even farm animals are granted a relatively pain free death by being stunned before the fatal blow, but in the case of meat suitable for Allah's disciples, once again religious sensibilities triumphs over common sense and the interest of dumb animals.
This is how these hapless creatures are dispatched:- ¿This method of slaughtering animals consists of a swift, deep incision with a sharp knife on the neck, cutting the jugular vein and carotid arteries of both sides but leaving the spinal cord intact, while reciting religious formulae. Muslims claim that this is the most humane method of animal slaughter¿ Really? Slicing an animals throat without any form of anaesthetic is humane?? I¿d describe it as down right barbaric, and another instance of the government (and the previous one) pandering to Islamic sensibilities by supporting the lie of multiculturism and community cohesion. Or to put it another way, it¿s how a bunch of spineless beaurocrats desperate to save their miserable careers are securing the Muslim vote by endorsing faith driven ideals over everything else.”
