Andrews stars with bat and ball for leaders Clifton
CLIFTON retained top spot in the Nottinghamshire Premier Cricket League with a crushing win at home to struggling Attenborough.
The leaders won the toss and posted 235-7 off their 50 overs, Liam Andrews top-scoring with 72 (two fours, three sixes), while there was also a half century from James Hollingsworth.
Although Attenborough made a good start they then collapsed and were bowled out for 129 in 41 overs, skipper Andy Simkiss top-scoring with 35.
Andrews topped a good batting performance with an impressive 5-22 from ten overs.
Second-placed Papplewick turned things around at home game against Cavaliers.
Cavs batted first and made 190 all out in 48.5 overs, keeper Aaron Thomas scoring 40. Taimoor Khan took 4-31.
The home side looked in trouble as they collapsed to six wickets down, well short of 100, but recovered with an unbeaten 90 stand for the ninth wicket between Brad Matthews (39*) and Tim Clarke (32*) to take them to an unlikely victory at 194-8 with four balls remaining.
Mohammed Azeemi took 3-36, Ricaldo Anderson 3-49 and keeper Thomas took five catches.
Caythorpe comfortably won at home to Kimberley. The home side scored 184-6 off 50 overs, due largely to an unbeaten 64 (five fours) by skipper Jim Hindson.
Kimberley had little answer to the bowling of brothers Jim and Tom Hemmings as they were dismissed for a paltry 82 in 33 overs, Samit Patel top-scoring with 26.
Jim Hemmings took 5-21 off 14 overs and Tom Hemmings 4-22 off ten overs.
Cuckney moved to fourth with victory at Mansfield HM. The home side elected to bat first and posted a respectable 213-9 off their 50 overs as Cuckney's Tom Ullyott took 5-67 off 15 overs.
Cuckney paced their innings to perfection, reaching 214-4 in 48.3 overs, skipper Will Butler making 90 (nine fours) and Richard Stroh 47 not out (five fours) to win by six wickets.
Farnsfield registered their first win of the season with a crushing nine-wicket success in the bottom-of-the-table clash at home to Plumtree.
Plumtree made 199 before being dismissed in the final over, Notts opener Matt Wood scoring 83 (11 fours, one six) and skipper Darren Wright 34. Dave Loveridge, Neil Sharp and Adam Gilbert all took three wickets.
Farnsfield then produced two important stands, 65 for the first wicket between Michael Bell and James Bennett (23) and an unbeaten stand of 137 with Bell 83 not out (nine fours) and skipper Paul Franks 80 not out ( ten fours, one six) which saw them cruise to 202-1.
Welbeck travelled to Wollaton who won the toss and fielded. Welbeck made 190 before being dismissed in the final over, Noel Gie scoring 54.
Nick Ellsmore took 5-53 for Wollaton, who were then bowled out for 143 in 44 overs, Steve Allcoat making 33 (four fours) and Karl Glendenning 31. Guy Darwin and Martin Dobson both took 3-20.
