A CITY centre restaurant has won an award for serving one of the best vegan breakfasts in the country.

Animal rights charity PETA has named the Alley Café, in Cannon Court, in the country's top ten restaurants for vegan breakfasts.

Dishes include the Brekkie Sandwich with tofu scramble, and faux bacon and hash browns.

PETA's senior programme manager Yvonne Taylor said: "We give the Alley Café five stars for respecting their patrons enough to serve them some of the finest vegan breakfast dishes available anywhere."
