NOTTS County boss Martin Allen trusts Liam Chilvers and Jon Harley to give their all for the Magpies, even though their futures look to lie away from Meadow Lane.

Harley will certainly start for Notts in a league game at Bournemouth today, Allen says, because Alan Sheehan is suspended.

And Chilvers is likely to play in central defence at Dean Court, after helping the Magpies keep a clean-sheet in their FA Cup third round victory at Doncaster Rovers.

The pair looked set to leave the club earlier this month, after successful loans at clubs in League Two, but Notts could not strike a deal with Port Vale for Chilvers and Rotherham for Harley.

"The attitude of everybody since I've been here has been spot on, whether they've been in or out of the team," said Allen.

"They are all hard-working people. If called upon they will do the business for Notts County.

"If Port Vale had come up with the money Liam would probably have gone, but they didn't so he's playing in our team now.

"I'm sure a lot of people were surprised when he played (against Doncaster), but we get to see the players in training. He did very well at Port Vale and has returned with league football under his belt.

"The loans have done them both good. We know they are good players. They have both played at Championship level."

Meanwhile, Notts have signed promising Nottingham Forest defender Kieron Freeman on an emergency one-month loan.
