NOTTINGHAM Forest have completed the signing of Millwall striker Darius Henderson.

The 31-year-old has signed a short-term contract at the City Ground, after being allowed to move on a free transfer.

And Reds boss Alex McLeish has challenged the player to prove he deserves to stick around for longer.

"Darius will get a short term deal," said McLeish. "We want him to go and be the handful that we know he can be.

"Then the rewards are there for him at the end.

"That is a great motivation for him. I think he is excited about coming to Forest.

"We want him to hit the ground running, to put pressure on the other strikers."

Henderson will immediately compete for a starting place when another of his former clubs, Watford, visit the City Ground on Saturday.

His deal at the New Den was set to expire in the summer and it is understood he has agreed a similar length of contract at Forest.

But McLeish has already laid down the challenge for him to add to the seven goals he has scored for Millwall this season and prove he deserves the chance to stick around for longer.

“Hallelujah !!! Interview below taken from sky transfer news. AMc really does know what he's doing and I reckon he will have stamped his authority on the squad now, sod will be a distant memory.. Could be even better than Billy Davies.
    We must win tomorrow.

Alex Mcleish looking to add width to his squad

The Reds have been able to bolster their attacking ranks during the winter window, with Darius Henderson having arrived on a short-term deal from Millwall.
McLeish feels he is now well-stocked in the goalscoring department - with Billy Sharp, Simon Cox and Dexter Blackstock already at the club - but acknowledges that he needs to bring in players to provide ammunition.

Forest have been strongly linked with a move for Birmingham winger Chris Burke, and McLeish admits he is hoping to get business done before the month is out.

"We have been pursuing a wide-man," McLeish told the Nottingham Evening Post.

"We have been playing quite narrow in midfield and it has put the onus on the full-backs to get forward.

"If I want to play with four or five in the middle, we need people who can cross the ball or beat their man.

"At the moment things are at a standstill."”

“This is so hilarious as usual. It always cheers me up when I come on to hear the lastest fairy stories you're making up.
Blimey, aren't you the masters of self delusion....Incredible.

Firstly, we had Blackstock on loan a few years ago and he was as useless then as he is now.
Secondly, when Central TV asked Nigel about the Blackstock rumour, he laughed out loud and said we're certainly not interested in him.

    Priceless.

I also see that you've signed a striker that's hoped will get on the end of your hoofball.
This, a couple of days after 'Flippin Eck' said on your site and I quote, 'we can't just keep hoofing the ball up the field'.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

    Cue the Benny Hill music.

“More tha happy to see we have signed true redDex to a long term deal, next Radi for 2 years and concentrate on signing up Billy Sharp, a winger and a solid left back. Roll on Watford, 3 points will give us the motivation to go on a bit of a winning streak and a few places higher in the league.”

“Indeed No_You_ShutUp, he's certainly got a bit of fight in him.

Darius Henderson will be a very useful striker and for years he was one of the best at this level. Although he only has 7 goals this year for Millwall, I expect that the court case etc has hardly helped to keep him settled.

As for the court case, it has been adjourned three times already due to a witness failing to show up.
I'm not sure (before submitting this post) whether the NEP will allow my link below to show up or whether it will become 'null', but just internet-search for 'Darius Henderson court case October 2012' and you'll get the same info:
    http://tinyurl.com/bff7gjo

Clearly nobody can comment on the court case details, and therefore whether DH is culpable of anything, but it must be very frustrating for all concerned that a witness has delayed matters not once but three times.

Back to football, Henderson will be a useful addition to the squad but I really hope that we sign Billy Sharp up sooner rather than later, plus a pacy right winger and a left-back.

    Cheers.”

“I am a little surprised that the Nottingham Evening Post and in particular the gentleman who reports on their matches cannot give information regarding the dismissals of Messrs Clark, Arthur and Burt. Its all gone quiet on that front.I think Forest supporters who watch the team week in and out have a right to know.”

“He is a good signing powerful and strong and isn't scared by defenders the team is lacking a few players like him who don't get bullied.”

“A tall striker does not mean long ball football. Someone like him can create havoc in the box and even if he does not score, this creates chances for others. Someone also said that he struck someone in a restaurant. I like it, a good striker!”

“red_dawn Don't quite understand your post mate. We have actually signed an innocent man that has been accused of a crime. Maybe you KNOW that he is guilty. The rest of us will wait for our justice system to make the decision on that. (innocent until proved guilty, and all that!)

Welcome Darius Henderson and also glad that we have got Dextor for a few more years. Good to know that he told NLN to do one. Apparently, Nigel was desperate to sign him, but the owners said he had to get rid of 5 players to finance any deal!”
