LONG Eaton Victoria Angling Society's match nine towards the 2010 Championship – the Centenary Cup match – was held at Dynamite Baits Makins on Phase 2, with Reptile, Little Reptile and Paddock all in use.

Although all three lakes fished reasonably well, except for the winner, Reptile dominated and filled the next five top weights.

John Adamson (Paddock peg 12) continued his successful run with a 20-carp catch weighing 90-10 to win.

Starting with a tiny feeder, he picked off carp from various spots in his swim before switching to pole and paste to take five lumps, for around 35lb, in the final hour.

In-form Adamson has now won seven times with one second place in his last eight matches.

Leading the Reptile weights was Neil Stevenson (peg 2) with 70-4, all taken on pole and meat fished towards the islands.

Len Barker's third-placed 66-2 from Reptile 13 all fell to paste fished at 6m.

Adamson has consolidated his Championship lead with 162 points, ahead of Carl Henrick (132), Malc Munn (112), Rob Henrick and Les Overmass (103 each).

Championship match ten is at Cooper's Arms Lake on Sunday.

Midland AS decided to fish the members-only area towards Hoverinham and the seven anglers pegged in the members-only field fared best.

Fittingly, the final of the knock-out cup was also contested, resulting in a first and second finish for the two finalists, with John Morley edging out Gary Smith, 3lb 15oz to 2lb 4½oz, in a low weight match, where any of the 15 anglers could have won.

Morley was pegged fourth on the members' field and was struggling until a near 2lb perch fell to maggot and waggler, added to a few small dace, then four roach in the last ten minutes.

Smith had the best weight from the Hoveringhan field, peg 124. He also fished waggler and maggot, catching two or three roach, half a dozen dace and three perch.

Tony Bouchley topped the weights at the Coors Macmillan Charity match which attracted 45 anglers fishing over four sections.

Bouchley banked 13lb 8oz on waggler with maggots, to edge out Tony Marshall on 13lb, who used used waggler, pole and stick float with maggots to keep the fish coming.

David Webb was third with 12lb 11oz mainly on the waggler with maggots as all the anglers caught fish, with the average section weight winner over 7½lb.

But the biggest winner was Macmillan Nurses with £515 raised.

John Mann defied very wet and windy conditions to romp to victory in the Earl Manvers match at Eye Kettleby Lakes.

Fishing corn on feeder and pole, he landed 56-0 of carp and skimmers to take a comfortable win from Tony Cooper in second with 31-8.

DOFF AC fished the Old Wood Lake at Portland Fishery which was won by Richard Cooke on peg 2 with an impressive 69lb 2oz.

He fished paste on the pole at eight metres, catching carp to 15lb. In second was Mick Mee with 25lb 4oz.

Pete Taylor was a clear winner of the Crown Inn match at Riddings Fishery, with carp to 5lb on pole and bread in his total of 85-14. That put him well clear of second-placed Paul Pincott on 61-12.

Connor Clark switched tactics early on to banded 6mm pellet to pull off the only ton of the day at Jansons and a comfortable win in the Matchmen Bulwell match.

John Johnson was a clear winner as the Nottingham AA match squad visited the Erewash Canal at Sandiacre.

Drawn on peg 79, he fished pole with squatt over groundbait at seven and nine metres to catch mainly roach and a few skimmers in his final weight on 8-7. Ron Scales adopted the same tactics on the next peg to come second with 5-9.

Nottingham AA's senior members' match on Lagoon 1 at Attenborough Pits was won by Jim Taylor with 8lb 8oz.

Drawn on peg 9 near the slipway, he fished groundbait feeder and maggot with little success.

But a switch to worm saw him land five good perch to 2lb, plus a couple of skimmers.

Second-placed Ron Scales on peg 2 had a net of small roach and skimmer on groundbait and pinkie on a 13m pole or 4m whip.

In a second club match at the same venue, Ron Scales was in a class of his own.

Drawn on peg 1, Scales found himself on a large shoal of bream. Having lost two on a 4m whip, he fished worm on pole to land 12 bream to 6lb, plus a 4lb pike and a few roach and skimmers to total 56-13.
