    “Kevinward76,

I drive on this road everyday and people simply do not stick to the speed limit, it drives me crazy having people tailgating because I'm not willing to break the law. On a brighter note I have seen several unmarked police cars pulling people over!

I hope all involved come through this ok and are able to be back with their families asap”

“I was caught up in the traffic yesterday and simply went up the M1 one junction. Didn't add that much time onto my journey.

The police and traffic officers looked like they are doing all they could with signage and closing the road - I think the well-being of the people involved are a higher priority than a slight delay. I'm not a big fan of the police, but to say they "don't care" is unjustified.

When I saw the story on the news, I realised it must have been serious… so as someone who drives up and down that road every day, my heart goes out to those involved. :(

As a side note, the speed limit was changed to 40/50mph a few years ago after a couple of accidents - but incidents keep occurring as there was another serious accident a few months back. This tells me that the speed limit is not the problem and there might be other issues that precipitate accidents in this area…”

“My husband was the lorry driver and was on his lunch break parked up in a layby and sitting in the passenger seat when the porsche hit the back of the lorry. The accident was very serious and he did his best to help out in what followed. Our thoughts are with the passenger and his family.”

“Why are people so selfish talking about costing businesses money and being stuck inn traffic. Someone could have lost their life today. I saw this accident and I assure you the last thing on my mind was how much it was costing me or how long I was going to be stuck in traffic. Yes the driver may have been at fault but it is the passenger that was seriously injured!”

“wow, not one mention hoping the people involved are all ok, imagine these people have children and they may spend xmas losing a loved one .. a few of you calling the others selfish as your route home is delayed, think of others and what they may be going through .. have a look at your comments before calling others selfish”

“Why don't the authorities broadcast accurate and timely TMC data notifications so that people's navigation and dashboards will reroute or inform them?

OFCOM should also scrap the abuse of TP on FM radio by ordinary stations and just have dormant government run stations which cut in only for traffic reports which could even be fully automated by way of modern computer-synthesised voices.

I would also like to see the DoT or whatever they are called this year launch smartphone apps with proper data about traffic and travel which covers the whole country and has no adverts.

    Must try harder.”

“'...these selfish people cost bussinesses (sic) £millions each year with people stuck in traffic...' - this, of course, could equally apply to the police who close main trunk roads for far longer than necessary, and to our wonderful City Council, for whom everything plays second fiddle to the tram works.”

“Accidents will happen especially this manic time of year. What gets me is why cant a police notices be positioned before the access road leading to the motorway island saying A610 closed instead ofus all crawling up to the island going round it and back down to the Nuthall island.
One night i drove up to the Motorway island to access the A610 for home .I was met by a sign saying A610 closed and diverted onto the southbound motor way and had to travel to sandiacre to get off. Total shambles. The police are just wallybrains. They dont care.”
