440 new jobs at £10m Bulwell superstore
A MULTI-MILLION pound supermarket which will create 440 jobs will be built in Bulwell town centre.
The plans for the Tesco Extra store were given the go-ahead by councillors at a meeting yesterday.

welcome: How the new store will look
It will be built on the site of the old Kwik Save store in Main Street.
The extra jobs will provide a boost to the Bulwell economy as unemployment in the area is three times the national average at 6.8%, compared to 2.2% for the UK. Nottingham's average is 3.8%.
As well as the extra jobs, the £10m shop is expected to attract thousands of shoppers to the town centre and revitalise existing shops and businesses.
As part of the development plan, Tesco wants to improve roads around the area, by linking Jennison Street and Spring Road. The facade of the Scots Grey pub in Main Street would also be retained.
There will be 430 parking spaces on the site, some of which will be underneath the store.
As well as the shop itself, there will be a cafe and staff accommodation on site. A Tesco Direct and home delivery service will also operate.
People who live near the site gave the thumbs-up to the new store.
Wendy Greenwood, 48, said: "I will now have a supermarket on my doorstep."
Jane Fox, 43, said: "It has been far too long coming."
Yvonne Moyo, 35, said: "Since they closed the old Kwik Save store there has been nothing here so it is really good news."

“Ann.......Whilst I agree with your comments, Bulwell Job Center, covers a very large Geographical area.
Also, I wonder just how many jobless in Bulwell, are actually seeking employment?.
In Conclusion, Tesco's trade dominance, can also have negative results in the area.....
Tesco, have obviously researched the initiative very well, having 5 local stores already!”

“I hope that when the store is built that all jobs will be given to local people afterall all they have to do is put the vacancies in the hands of Bulwell job centre and they say to their clients you you and you work Tesco ,I am sure they have hundreds on their books that have done shop work .”
