“It must be tough to serve in Afghanistan knowing a lot of the British public don't think the war you're putting your life on the line for is worth fighting. When soldiers join the army, they know that they are taking on a job that requires them to work in dangerous, perhaps deadly, conditions. They are willing to do this: they have not been conscripted. I would never have the courage to do this, and I salute all those who have the job of fighting to save their country, and also fighting to try to preserve democracy and peace in other parts of the world.
I realise that there are people who do not see the point of having British troops in Afghanistan, but I think the politics would be better posted elsewhere. This story is about the death of a brave Briton. Please respect his/her sacrifice
rather than suggesting the government should change its policy.”

“Speak to any soldier, they would rather be out there doing their job than looking for the taliban on our own streets!”

“'Another young life wasted. This pointless war is achieving nothing. It is time for Britain to withdraw from Afghanistan.'
Oh it's achieving something alright, it's ensuring that the important people of the world, i.e. major shareholders of oil corporations, weapons manufacturers..etc make bucket loads of money. It's also enabling small groups of over-privileged, political megalomaniacs to obtain a firm foothold in a strategically important part of the world, thus furthering their maniacal imperial ambitions and ensuring their continued privileged status.
Doesn't achieve much for the likes of us though, except for the destruction of a few more families and the opportunity to pay more for our fuel.
It's not just time for Britain to withdraw from Afghanistan, it's also time that the scumbags that started this mess were held accountable for the crimes that they've committed. 'Regime Change' is illegal., it's a major war crime.
'Waging An Aggressive War' is the most heinous of all war crimes, it's what the Nazi's were hanged for. It's also what we've been participating in, in Iraq.
Sending young men and women to participate in these crimes (not to mention, die for them) is a vile and disgraceful act and the politicians responsible should be punished according to the full extent of the law. After all, they're only too happy to apply those laws to other's (e.g Milosovic) when it suits them.”
