£75,000 cost of elite team review of Notts Police
THE work of an elite team brought in by Government inspectors to improve the performance of Notts Police will cost the force £75,000.
The previously undisclosed cost – contained in Notts Police Authority papers – will pay for the six-strong team's "capability review" between February 2 and 17.

Notts Chief Constable Julia Hodson has denied that they are a failing force
Details of their findings are due to be disclosed by the end of next month. The review follows the rejection by Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary of the Notts force's own plan to improve its performance.
A Notts Police spokeswoman said the £75,000 would go on fees for several members of the review team and accommodation and travel costs for the entire six-strong team.
She added: "The knowledge and expertise the individuals on the review team will bring to this process are second-to-none and it was inevitable that a degree of investment would be attached to a review of this nature.
"The cost only reflects a small proportion of the true value of this level of consultancy and the positive benefits it brings to the force and the authority."
The inspectorate team working with Notts Police comprises Keith Bristow, chief constable of Warwickshire; Mike Craik, chief constable of Northumbria; Ann Barnes, chairman of Kent Police Authority; Paul Coen, interim chief executive of the British Transport Police Authority; and Tony Wilkinson, former chairman of Wilkinsons Ltd.
Their work is being co-ordinated by Adam Pemberton, deputy director of a "capability review team" at the Cabinet Office.
Speaking after the unveiling of the team last week, Zoe Billingham, Her Majesty's Inspector for the eastern region, said: "We're concerned about the enduring issue of Nottinghamshire Police's under-performance. We have not seen a convincing plan for improvement. People in Nottinghamshire don't feel safe in some areas – particularly in the north of the county."
Although crime has fallen in Notts for the past seven years, it is also falling nationwide and progress compared to other forces is considered too slow.
Notts Chief Constable Julia Hodson said last week: "In my view Notts Police is not a failing force, we are an improving force."
Coun John Clarke, chairman of Notts Police Authority, said: "I've had an initial meeting with some of the review team. I was impressed.
"There are things in the Notts Police Authority, like any organisation, that you may want changing. We've got twin chief executives due to a departure that was not expected. It could have been a number of forces who were given this capability review."

“And that says it all, gutless and no integrity. Perhaps he has the aspirations to be one of these politicians he is always supporting.”

“Apologies for the typo, 'Bill', but nothing else.
Andymoron can suck a big one. His opinion counts for nought as far as I am concerned.
Your opinion is going the same way.
Oh, and do keep trying to get information.
It's funny.
I feel like I am a 'high-ranking civil servant' now.
Ha ha ha...”

“Well SadB still not got the guts to come clean or apologise, and cannot spell executive. I have told you how to locate me and that no matter what you say I am one person and have always been open, unlike you, and given my proper name and location.
Andyman was very accurate in how he described you and I am sure it is now obvious to everyone. If you have any integrity at all prove it and stop hiding and using smoke and mirrors to avoid truth..”

“Bogush, you're just laughable.
Bill, are you serious? The first time you posted here about what you used to do, you posted that you were formerly a "high-ranking civil servant".
No use back-peddaling now and trying to say you said 'senior'. SEO is just a senior exectuive officer, and that is where that grade ends. Not anything like a senior civil servant, which is a different kettle of fish altogether.
The more you are posting now, the more I think that you are that idiot Jason posting under assumed names. What I would expect from someone with his problems. He would probably know quite a lot about the benefit system too.
And you seem to have bitten the bug about me posting under other usernames.
That's the final giveaway, 'Bill'.”

“Oh, and please put hings into perspective, eg which grades are equivalent to director level, or various ranks of general, and how "other ranks" in the civil service tie up with military ranks, say, Madbadger.
(And, of course, where you would come in the oecking order).
Before midnight, please.
As you seem to think you've turned from a big pumpkin into Cinderella.

“Yes MadB not an elevated position but at least a responsible one. I do not regard myself as a high ranking civil servant but I use the expression senior civil servant because my rank carried that specific word.. I presume you are somewhere in the lower five. The grade may have been middle ranking but the job was certainly not. Perhaps you would like to see my collection of personal letters from Ministers, Perm Secs etc some time.
I see you are still incapable of apologising for getting things wrong or showing some degree of openness but that does not surprise me. Have some guts for once and be as open and use your real name instead of several disguises and if you are so grade conscious then say what yours is. It is not really about grade but integrity and I feel you are sadly lacking in that respect.”

“While you're at it, please explain the grading system, especially how many/what proportion are in what grades, eg 1% in grades 1 to 5, and how that is split up......
Again, today, as you're in such a hurry.
Ta.
