MORE than 150 residents "reported" to a mock immigration centre in Old Market Square.
Nottingham Citizens for Sanctuary is calling on the UK Border Agency to discuss the 32-mile round trip from Nottingham to Loughborough to report to officials.
Community leaders were invited to report to the mock centre to show their support.
Dean of Nottingham Cathedral Father Michael Brown and Nottingham South MP Alan Simpson attended,
The event took place on Saturday for about two hours at Speakers' Corner.
Visitors were asked to present their documents, wait in a queue in the freezing cold, be searched and sign at a desk.
The group says around 2,000 people in Nottingham are regularly forced to make the trip to Loughborough every time the UK Border Agency requires them to report.
Konnie Lloyd, who co-ordinates Nottingham Citizens for Sanctuary, said: "Imagine having to travel all the way to Loughborough when you have no car and no cash. The UK Border Agency is turning a blind eye to the consequences for very vulnerable people."
